Using Aromatherapy Oil To Counter PMDD |

I have been diagnosed with a condition called Premenstrual Dysphonic Disorder (PMDD). My doctor prescribes me a medication to take the edge off it, but it doesn’t make it go away completely. When PMDD is having a negative impact on my mood I have found that there is something that helps me a lot. I lock the bathroom door so that I can get away from my husband and step-grandchildren. That way I am completely alone. Then I run a bath and light some candles. I usually put a few drops of aromatherapy oil into my bath. I choose aromatherapy oils that I know will help me relax and calm down. These aromatherapy oils are good for eliminating anxiety and anger. I found out that aromatherapy oils that are good for reducing these emotions include frankincense, jasmine, geranium, hyssop, basil, bergamot, juniper, marjoram, ylang-ylang, neroli, chamomile and lavender. The aromatherapy oils I prefer to put in my bath are lavender, bergamot and jasmine. Once I run my bath and add the aromatherapy oils I get in. While I am in the bath I try to focus on my breathing and empty my mind of all thoughts that are putting me in a bad mood. This usually helps to calm me down and restore a sense of equilibrium.
